Yoga is utilized globally as a practice for spiritual development, mental balance, and physical strengthening. Trained in traditional Kriya yoga practices and physical Hatha yoga asana, Kat offers gentle, approachable daily breath work techniques and physical movement for building muscle strength and mobility of joints. Learn how you can release stress and reduce (or completely elimination) chronic pain. While the timeless yogic masters are her teachers these days, Kat has a formal education in Tantra, Hatha and Kriya yoga combined with a passion for the latest scientific research of yoga for whole health.
Tantra as a practice has been misunderstood in the West. Tantra was developed centuries ago in India and Tibet and is rooted in Buddhist philosophy. The methods of practice can be used as a way to control thoughts, reduce mental and emotional suffering, and modify behaviors to transcend the basic stress induced survival mode that we all fall into. Find balance through all the aspects of being human, beginning with breath to focus the mind while releasing the trappings of spirit. Yoga and Tantra are spiritual practices to reduce suffering on every level. Kat bridges esoteric yoga philosophy with modern practices that are approachable for every client. We overcome self sabotaging beliefs to rediscover our innate knowing and establish trust in the Divine.
Meditation-It’s not always what you think, in fact it is the opposite of what you are thinking! Kat teaches simple science based meditation techniques that you can utilize throughout your day to increase awareness in life while facilitating the reduction of stress. Learn to control reactive behaviors and triggered emotions through mental rewiring (reminding) and stillness, even when you are physically active.
Pranayama utilizes the power of the breath to build vitality in the body and bring calmness to the emotional state. Kat demonstrates basic and advanced pranayama (yogic breath work) for relaxation with focus. Kriya yoga is a facet of Tantra which uses controlled breathing techniques with physical movement to create clarity in mind. Pranayama breath work ensures increased lung capacity and oxygenation of bodily tissues, improved venous circulation, strengthened abdominal muscles and a toned pelvic floor for improved bladder and rectal control. The seated postures are accessible to any body.
Mantra is meditative chanting or repetition of phrases and words to keep the mind fixated on self empowerment and healing meditation rather than stressful thoughts. Another branch of Tantra yoga, mantra was developed to unify the individual with the Divine cosmic energy (God). Kat empowers students to use mantras to redirect the mental attention back to present moment awareness while facilitating a deep sense of connectedness and purpose. Heal from the depths of the conscious and subconscious mind to become one with stabilizing sound and vibration.
Asana -If you’ve struggled with acceptance of your body image, if you’ve suffered with chronic pain, or if you just want to improve muscle strength and joint mobility, then developing a regular yoga asana practice is essential to your health journey. Using postures to create balance, stillness to facilitate focus, and breath to expand the energy centers (chakras), we can transcend stagnant or stuck energy to build mental, emotional and physical strength. Yoga asana is a daily ritual that can be practiced at any age. Kat has worked with children and youth, athletes and active adults, as well as elder and alter-abled clients to build a physical practice. At any age and in any physical state clients can benefit from the postures and practice of yoga asana.
